You boys are tooo much sometimes. I wanted to introduce you to the Ingalls family, so we watched the series premier of "Little House on the Prairie". I wanted to expose you to the old-fashioned and wholesome lifestyle. You were enthralled with the hunting, the Indians, and the horses. Several times, you Kent, had to cover your eyes because you were so scared of what was going to happen next.

My favorite part came when the Ingalls celebrated Christmas and each girl received red mittens, and a drinking cup. That's it, and they were not only satisfied, but ecstatic. Parker, you said, "That's it! That's all they got?! That stinks."

It was the perfect opportunity for us to talk about materialism...now I didn't use that word, but we discussed how if we have a home, health, and each other, we have enough.

It was also great to see how the children in the Ingalls family had chores and responsibilities. Every one in the family had to contribute. They were a team.

Of course, you boys just wanted to know when the Indians were coming back, and if Pa was going to "shoot all the wolves dead in the head." But...I'm hoping some of the other themes stuck in your heads.

Maybe our next family night we will go without electricity...that we have to find ways to interact and entertain ourselves.
