Parker, one of the days in TN Pop Pop and I were talking about the Cubs and sharing in our misery. Pop Pop mentioned how thinks the team should trade Derrek Lee at the end of the season. The conversation pretty much ended there, and we went about our business. A few minutes later I noticed that you were missing. I looked all over the cabin, and finally found you crouched between the wall and the TV stand, and you were bawling your sweet little eyes out. After I pried you out of your hiding spot, and consoled you, I managed to interpret your blubbering between your sobs: "I don't want Derrek Lee to leave the Cuuuuuubbbs". You were literally sobbing and shaking uncontrollably. I took you outside on the deck of the cabin, and held you in the rocking chair as you continued to cry. I wasn't even sure what to say to you...I tried explaining how baseball players come and go, and it is really the team itself that we are committed to. I tried explaining how when I was teenager my favorite player Mark Grace went to play for the Diamondbacks, and how I was sad too. I tried explaining that players get old, or go through slumps, or have contracts that run out..nothing doing. You couldn't be soothed. After all of my logical reasoning failed, I finally just told you that Pop Pop didn't know what he was talking about and that he was crazy. Inside my head I was thinking, "Even if Lee doesn't return next season, I'm not even going to tell Parker. He'll be none the wiser". Anyways, talk of Pop Pop being crazy made you laugh, and soon you were so focused on that, your spirits brightened.

Awwww... the other day my kids heard the Undertaker from the WWE died... they were devastated until I showed them a (real) news article that said it was just a WWE skit. :/ Glad you got him out of his funk!
