P and K,
I love Saturday mornings when you climb in bed with us and sleep. Your dad has to be at church at 8, so he usually doesn't get to cuddle much, but the three us snooze for a bit.
As I type this Kent, you are in Parker's room playing with his toys. Parker, you are downstairs trying to figure out how to change the channel so that you can watch Power Rangers, and you are completely oblivious to the fact that your little brother has some of your "off limit" possessions in his chubby hands.
You are both begging me to go outside, but I am still in my PJ's! I am trying to hold you off until about 11:30 or so before I set you free in the backyard. There are some inside chores that I need to accomplish before I can watch you outside.
Something that I am learning today is how to not make God's love dependent on my performance in life. I don't have to earn God's approval. I don't have to work so many hours in order for God to bless me. I don't have to adhere to rituals and man made regulations in order to be deemed as worthy. God loves me just because I am his child. That is how I love you, and that's how God loves you. No performance necessary.
