Last night around 9:15 Erik was downstairs and I was in the shower...I wasn't taking a shower, I was scrubbing the walls with CLR. The scrubbing noise and the running water literally drowned out any other sounds. To our knowledge Kent was alseep in bed. When I got done with cleaning the shower I went to kiss Kenters goodnight. He wasn't in his bed. I screamed for Erik and he and I were going all over the house yelling Kent's name. Nothing. I finally went into Parker's room and told him to get out of bed and help us find Kent. After searching everywhere in the house (closets, underbeds, behind couches) I went to the garage to see if maybe he was in there playing with toys. To my absolute horror, the garage door was open. At that point Erik went across the street to the neighbor's house to recruit them in the search.
I honestly feared that Kent had walked outside in the dark. Most children have fear in them to keep them from such adventures...but not Kent. He has no filter and loves anything risky or dangerous. It would be just like him to decide he wanted an evening walk.
Finally, I was shaking and I went to try the house one more time.
"Kenters, come out! Mommy has candy!"
"Candy?!" replied a little munchkin voice.
Out from underneath my bed crawled my stocky little boy. He was hiding behind my wrapping paper box, so I when I looked under there initially, I didn't see him.
I quickly ran to the front door in my aqua blue and lime green flannel pajamas and yelled across the street to Erik and the neighbors that I had found the missing subject.
I hugged Kent.I kissed Kent. I told Kent I loved him. Then I spanked Kent. I told him to NEVER do that again.
