"Jesus doesn't come with a side of amnesia"
My favorite line from Mark Driscoll's Peasant Princess Series #6, "My Dove".
This past sermon was on sin in marriage, and the difference between worldly sorrow and godly repentance.
When sins are committed against you, we have to forgive, but forgetting isn't always possible. That is why forgiveness is a choice.
When sin is present, their has to be a crucifixion that follows. Most of the time, we crucify our spouse when a sin is committed against us. We need to focus on Christ, who was already crucified for that sin. We don't need to punish our spouse for a sin that Jesus was punished for.
Worldly sorrow desires to change behaviors. Godly sorrow focuses on renewing the mind, as Romans 12 speaks about.
Mark Driscoll has the perfect balance of theology and practical application..plus his sarcasm is highly entertaining.
