Vacation: Fun although not very relaxing. Some of their favorite activities were bowling, swimming, and jumping on the hotel beds.
Election: I am not surprised by the outcome, but I am a little shocked to hear the reasons why people elected Obama. I think it had nothing to do with policies, but everything to do with personality. I think America voted for a Prom King rather than a President, but the majority spoke, and now we move on.
The Shack Review: This book hasn't fully sunk in yet. I actually think I need to re-read it to grasp the entirety of the message. There were parts that were intense, and some that I actually wanted to skip over because they were too heavy and philisophical, which means boredom for me. Call me shallow, but at least I'm honest. It reminded me of The Lion, The Witch, and Wardrobe because it attributes Godlike character to fictional beings in order to illustrate who He is. It attempts to answer the age old question of "Why do bad things happen if God is good?" I'm not sure I am entirely satisfied with the conclusion, but I don't think this book was heretical as many have claimed. I would take it as a work of fiction, and not as a statement of theology. It was just so-so on a purely entertainment level (which is why I read), but I will highlight some quotes later.

I couldn't get through "The Shack" either. It was too abstract and bogged down for me. Some people really love though and have said it has touched them in a unique way. Glad you had a vacation, although if you're like me it's always good to come home to routine.
Ditto on the election and ditto on The Shack. I have passed my copy around and am waiting to get it back so I can reread it. I think there are some things to take from it.... maybe more than my brain can handle :)
I will have to read the shack...but as far as the election: I agree, I agree, I agree. My question to all of those that voted for him is: Will you still be behind him when you realize he may not be the man you thought he was which means that he really is NOT the president that you thought he would be. I hope that I am wrong. As a country we really need to pray for him, that he leads us well and in the correct direction.

Election... As I told my Liberal cousin, it was a social victory as for economy and national security? now we pray and see what happens.

Bethany, I was just wondering if you read what I put on my blog about the Shack? I was more interested in reading it once I knew a little more about the background of it. (I still have not read it however...)
