Puzzles

Last night Parker refused to pick up his 20 puzzles and all of their pieces. He was consequently sent to bed without a brownie dessert, and was told that he was going to pick up those puzzles the first thing in the morning.

Fast forward a few hours. 6:00 a.m. The first hint of sun light.

I was sound asleep but could feel the presence of someone in the room. I opened my eyes, and there was Parker standing at my bed side, inches away from my face. After I recovered from the initial shock, I asked what he was doing.

"I clean up all my puzzles mommy. I clean them up in the night."

Sometime during the night, Parker must have gotten out of bed, went downstairs and cleaned up his mess.

I pulled him into bed with us, kissed him, and went downstairs to verify his story. Sure enough, the light was still on, but there were no puzzles pieces to be seen.

I was touched by the how he made things right. I was touched by how he desired to be obedient. I was touched by how he was so tormented by his behavior that he sacrificed sleep in order to correct the situation.

I got back into bed, hugged him, and said "Parker, I am so proud of you. You are a good boy".

He said, "I get a brownie when it's sunny now?"

So much for pure motivations!

Auntie J would have given him a brownie even if he didn't clean up!

That is such a sweet story! It will be so fun one day when Parker is all grown up to print out all of your blogs about him. What a treasure! I'm sure there will be lots of laughs!
