Spiraea, Spruce, Barberry...I never knew what these were until this past week. I am attempting to work on our landscaping in the front yard. I researched the best bushes for our weather, our shade conditions, and our price. I think they guy at the nursery was ready to quite after he helped me. I just kept asking and asking questions. They don't have gardening 101 in college..it's something you have to learn by doing. Anyways, I'm sure our neighbors will loves us now that we are working on our curb appeal.
People, People, People...I think I know why churches in America aren't going anywhere. We, the "found' don't act any different than the "lost" we are trying to reach. What we are offering the world is the same thing they already have...dysfunctional relationships, criticism, unforgiveness, selfishness, and inconsistency. When I was growing up, my mom would make us clean the house from top to bottom before we had company. We never invited someone to our home unless it was presentable. Maybe the church should take a page from Rosie's book..don't invite company over until our "house " is cleaned. Cleaned of disputes, hypocrisy, and pride..and then some.
Ephesians 5:1 says to "be imitators of God". I am afraid that the church, as a supposed representation of Christ, is failing miserably at this. How is it corrected? By me being different.
