Cuteness

We are trying to teach Kent "peek a boo". He does his own version by covering his ears with both hands. Ears..Eyes...at least they are somewhat in the same region. Parker had a very harsh punishment today. He and Kent were playing "bad guys" with their ninja turtles, and Kent went to innocently grab Parker's guy. Parker responded by pushing Kent in the chest with both hands. Kent fell backwards and hit his head on the tile floor. I grabbed Parker and marched him up to his room. Meanwhile, Kent was still lying on his back and kicking his feet like a turtle (not a ninja one). I told Parker to think about what he did and then closed the bedroom door behind me. After consoling Kent I heard Parker saying, "I'm done thinking about it Mom! I do puzzles now?" I don't think so mister! I made him stand in front of me and look at me in the eyes. Then I lowered my voice, like Jo Jo the Supernanny says to do. I explained that by hitting Kent, Jesus' feelings were hurt, mommy's feelings were hurt, and Kent's feelings were hurt. Then he asked me "What about Daddy's feelings"? He obviously missed the point! Taking another page from the Super Nanny book, I said, "That is unacceptable behavior". He just looked at me like I was speaking jibberish. Now I understand why our parent's generation spanked us. There was no explanation necessary. One swat on the behind and I knew what I did was wrong. I didn't need a verbal break down of the situation. Expalin that one Jo Jo.
