Songs of Solomon 2:8-3:5 is the text Pastor Mark concentrates on in this portion. In this passage marriage is likened to a flourishing vineyard. A vineyard takes time, effort, and energy in order to be beautiful and fruitful. Above all, it takes the commitment of the owners. It's a full time job, and necessitates constant care and investment. This specific message concentrated on foxes, fears, and friends in the vineyard of marriage.

Foxes can ruin a vineyard and destroy all that the owner has worked for. What are the foxes in your marriage vineyard that have the potential to harm the relationship?

Fears are expressed here by the woman as she is afraid that her love will not return to the vineyard. What fears are there in your marriage? Fears should not cripple us, but should cause us to take pre-cautionary measures to keep these fears from actualizing.

Friends are an important aspect of a successful marriage. Are your friends mentoring you in to a healthy marriage, or are they promoting misery? Who are you and your spouse surrounding yourself with? Intentionally find an older couple to watch, observe, and interact with.

This is the third "date" that Erik and I have had with Pastor Mark, as we have watched his sermons on-line, and there are seven more. At first I think Erik agreed to do this just to keep me happy, but secretly, I think he is starting to like it!
