but, since I have turned 30 I have noticed several changes in myself. My hair feels dry and looks less shiny than before. The color and tone of my skin has changed, and I have noticed one or two wrinkles on my face that were not there when I was 29. Also, I used to be able to eat an elephant at midnight, and then wake up with a flat tummy in the morning. No more. I have gained 2 lbs and I have no idea where they came from (well, I'm sure my obsession with chocolate and carbs doesn't help. Is that what happens with each passing decade? Your skin, your hair, and your body gets worse?
My solution? I bought cold cream. Yeah, the kind my grandma uses at night. I smooth in into my forehead, cheeks, and neck before I get into bed. I am hoping it wards of wrinkles and keeps my skin moisturized.
Another solution? I have been dragging my hiney to the gym. I have not been since the 4th of July, and now I am up to running two miles a day and weight lifting for about 30 minutes. I'd like to be running 5 miles three days a week. I've never smoked a cigarette in my life, but when I walk upstairs I'm breathing like a fat man. I need to change that. I want to be able to run and chase my kids during games of hide n seek.
I want the magic recipe for aging gracefully, but aging secretly. Do you think that is possible? I want the mind, wisdom, and experience of a 30 year old, but I want the physique of a 20 year old. That's not too much to ask is it?

Just look at your grandma and your mom. They look great! You don't need to worry. As to the exercise thing, I heard on the news today that you should do strength training for 31 minutes 3x a week. You should eat some carbs before you work out and a combo of carbs and protien after also include green tea. This all helps you burns calories and increase energy. They also said we should not run so much, that we will have more energy if we don't over do the running and walking besides it being so hard on the joints. The other thing was to eat every three to four hours smaller meals. Hope some of that helps
Good job on going to the gym, Bethany. I wish I liked going too. It's miserable.
I think you look great.
For what it's worth and I haven't done any research on it but my mom told me this week that she read somewhere that women of child bearing years should walk briskly instead of running.
You crack me up! You look great at 30! You would never let yourself go anyway!!! Running everday is hard with two boys, I know!! I'm only running like twice a week, but it's something. I want to do more, but schedules don't always allow for it!
I am going to be honest...I have no advice for you because I am terrified of getting older. When you think you have any advice for me, I will gladly take it!
Your post made me laugh! I love it! I too turned 30 and have noticed a big difference. Sad to say. I love being 30...just wish the changes didn't take place. My mom told me 50 is the worst. Oh dear....
