"Kent, touch your hips"

My two year old has two ear infections. Yesterday we arrived at our doctor's at 6:05 for our 6:15 appointment. At exactly 6:09 we were escorted back to the examining room. At 7:30 p.m. our doctor finally walked in to the room to see Kent. We were in that tiny, white room for an hour and twenty minutes. By about 7:10 I gave up trying to keep Kent out of the cabinets and off the spinning stool. I sang him every nursery rhyme and church song I could think of. I told him every fairytale and super hero story I knew. Why doesn't the staff have the patient's wait in the WAITING room instead of the examining room?

That is awful and it has been going on since Erik was Kent's age. I never understood it. At least now that he is on an antibiotic he should start feeling better soon. I'm Praying for you all

I would let your office staff/doctor know about how long you waited and maybe suggest that they have books and/or toys in the examining room. Sometimes I think they forget what it's like to have little ones. One time my daughter had a dentist appt and had to wait for 45 minutes to have a dr. examine her. I called and politely told them about the situation and believe it or not the dr. called and apologized. How will they know what their patients are feeling unless we tell them. A lot of mothers will thank you!

I think they try to trick you! It is totally false hope. That is whY I always need a partner to tag along for any Dr. Visit

Very frustrating... good job keeping him out of the cabinets for so long... I can't even keep Mike out of the cabinets and spinny things for 10 mins. (kidding)
I agree with debbie though, you should definately call and let them know!

I have always wondered that too. They put toys in the waiting room, but then make you do all of the waiting in the exam room. And you aren't allowed to bring food in there so it's not like you can keep them occupied with eating goldfish - extremely annoying.
