I think weaponry is an innate quality in little boys. I had always said "no guns", but I think I've changed my mind. Erik has helped me along in the process. He and his brothers played with them, and none of them turned out to be violent mass murderers. He said taking a gun away from a boy is like restricting his manliness. There is also a book called "
Wild at Heart" which talks briefly about how inside every man is the desire for adventure, risk, and heroism, and as parents we should recognize those qualities and encourage their imagination.
On our vacation we stopped by a little store that had cowboy and indian type toys. I allowed the boys to buy two Davy Crockett like guns. These are the rules: They can only shoot bad guys and hunt for animals (sorry PETA).
Now that they have guns, they haven't really played with them since vacation. The freedom thas taken out all of the adventure for them I guess.

I think Guns would be an issue with me too. I think Chris would also tell me that guns are fine!
I love the picture of Parker.
I think my rule will be as long as they don't shoot at people I am ok with guns.
just don't pass the guns this way when the boys are done with them.
I didn't want the boys playing with guns either, but I gave in too...they're so many toy guns and they love them!
