Kenters is two today. I love him more than words could express. He is truly my firecracker, and he spices up my life. This morning at 4:30 I heard him playing in his room. I could not scold him on the morning of his birthday, so I kissed his chubby cheek, and put him back to bed. He was up for good at around 6:30.
I ran the 5k today and was disappointed in my time. In my practices this week I was running at about 26 minutes, but during Wednesday morning's run, I had to stop because I felt this sharp pain on the bottom side of my foot. I did not run at all yesterday, and I iced my foot on and off again all day. Then this morning during the race I ran very conservatively in order not to hurt my foot anymore. At about the 2 1/2 mile mark, I though to myself, "Man. I'm not even tired. I must be in really good shape." Not so. When I saw my time, I knew I wasn't in good shape, but rather I had a plethera of energy because I wasn't running fast!! I finished in 28 minutes, which is not only two minutes slower than my practice times, but it is slower than last year. Proof that I am getting older.
Funny story..Kent and Parker got into Kent's birthday presents and while Erik and I were downstairs, they proceeded to open them all.

OH YEAH, AND KAYLA...OOPS!
Hey! Don't be so hard on yourself about your race! Your foot was hurt and you were being careful. You'll know if you're on pace by checking your time every mile mark. If they don't have people yelling out mile splits, make sure you have a watch on to time yourself and check it so you know if you're going too fast or too slow for your pace. And remember, most people can't even run 3 miles, so be proud of yourself for doing it!!!
And happy birthday to Kent!!!!
