I'm addicted

I have read 12 Beverly Lewis books in these past three weeks. I never thought I'd have an interest in reading about the Amish community, but I'm engrossed in their story.

I am on my 13th book, and to make matters even better, there are several of the CREW girls who are reading them as well. I am going to have a summer book club for them in which we read one book a month, and then meet by candlelight (like the Amish would) and feast on delectable Amish desserts, while we discuss the latest novel.

I've learned that while the Amish believe that having an assurance of salvation is deemed as being prideful and sinful, they love the word of God and a simpler way of life.

To end our summer of reading these books, we are going to visit an Amish community a few hours away in Indiana.

I enjoy temporarily visiting these Amish villages in my reading, but I am ever so thankful that I am a modern girl!!

One of the couples from our original bible study group moved to Indiana near an Amish Community, and they especially love their food!

I just read my first two Beverly Lewis books a few weeks ago....different, I think I may still like Karen Kingsbury better, but it's interesting to learn about a different way of life. I'll be in IN in two weeks!

I'm addicted to Karen Kingsbury books (like Angel). I can't put one of her books down once I start reading it! I always thought that Beverly Lewis books looked boring, but I think I may give one a try now that you say they are really good.

Also...if you need a tour guide in Amish Indiana let me know b/c Rick's sister lives in Goshen, Indiana and is surrounded by an Amish community. I visited their church last year at Christmas time and everyone came to church dressed in Little House on the Prarie dresses and bonnets that matched!!

Did you take a speed-reading class? But seriously, I just read a book called "Amish Grace" it's the true account about the forgiveness the Amish community gave when that man came and killed 5 amish girls and wounded 5 others while the girls were at school. It is a truly amazing story.

Her books are the only books I get totally into. I visited an Amish community for the first time a few years ago and it was one of the best things I have done. It is so intriguing and so strange to see buggies driving down the street. We even were served by Amish girls in the restaurant. (good food!) We saw some kids playing baseball out on recess at an old schoolhouse. It is amazing! You will love it!
