I previously posted how I have recently become addicted to Webkinz. I am in the process of organizing our pet's room, and we are saving up to buy another virtual room. Erik is a better game player than I am, so I asked him to play for an hour so he could earn $ for our pet pug named Spiderman. We had over 1,000 webkinz dollars, which is quite a bit. Parker was on the site playing games, and I went upstairs to change Kent. When I came back downstairs I saw our total amount of money was at 68. Parker bought two tangerine colored couches from the Antique Curio at $498 each. I was so upset!!! All of our hard earned pretend money was gone. So, I spent the next hour trying to recover some of the loss. I pathetically only play the games that I am good at (Lilly Pads, Hungry Hog, and Letter Drop) We currently stand at $492, so I'm satisfied with that for now. I had to spend a few dollars on food for our pet, and at 5 webkinz dollar an apple, our poor Spiderman only got one fruit and one bottle of water. We're on a budget people! We now have a new rule. No going shopping unless Mommy and Daddy are with you.
My pet is starving, but we have two tangerine couches, and money in the bank. I think my priorities are a little confused.
Then, while we were in the game room playing a pretend game of pinball, one of the other pets challenged us to a game of Connect Four. I, at 29, took the challenge. The stakes were 10 Webkinz dollars...I lost. My disappointment quickly turned to humiliation as I realized my opponent was probably around 7 years old. How did I lose? I played a defensive game, and my new strategy is going to be to make my own moves, and not just react to my opponent's move. I will prevail!
I know all of this is pretend. I know this entire virtual phenomenon is geared towards children. I know this isn't real, yet I find myself looking forward to organizing Spiderman's room.
I think I've officially lost it.

Maybe I should find a game like that to play to keep my mind off of things.
