Music

For years I have listened to 720 AM which is the WGN radio station. I would turn it on first thing in the morning, and get ready listening to Spike O'Dell. Then, I'd do my cleaning and shores with Kathy and Judy at 9am. I would conclude my day with John Williams or Steve Cochran. Of course, I'd tune in for Pat Hughes and Ron Santo for every Cubs home game. I even enjoyed Glen Koslowski and Tom Waddle for Sports Central every once in a while in the evenings. I was a second generation WGN listener. I grew up with both of parents constantly tuned in, so it was natural for me to carry on the tradition of having WGN playing in the background everyday in the house and the car.

Some people keep the TV on for background noise during the day. You'd think that with two boys, I'd have enough background noise, but I always have the radio on. It's the first thing I do in the morning when I come downstairs, and turning it off is the last thing I do in the evenings after I've cleaned up from dinner, and am leaving the kitchen for the day.

Over the last two months I have switched from listening to 720 AM to 100.3 FM which is 70's and 80's music. I think I enjoy the element of nostalgia that this genre brings. I can see myself on the roller rink floor every time I hear a Janet Jackson or Paula Abdul song. I can smell the scent of Electric Youth perfume and see hyper color shirts when I hear Brian Adams or MC Hammer. The sound of slap bracelets resounds when old school Madonna, Michael Jackson, Tiffany, Debbie Gibson, Wilson Phillips, Rod Stewart, Cyndi Lauper, or the Bengals comes out of the speakers of my radio.

I don't know when I will return to the comfort of 720 AM. I'm sure I will soon grow tired of the 80's music much like I did 15 years ago, but for now I am enjoying the trip down memory lane. Besides, on Friday I'll tune into 93.5 FM and listen to Christmas Music until January.

As will we! By the way, be careful, it's 93.9 FM.

I love music and I have my particular stations.

By the way, shouldn't you be listening to Shine FM or 94.3...

Too bad I wasn't allowed to listen to secular music, so I missed out on a lot of that. Does Amy Grant or Michael W count? What about Carmen's A to J?

I love 100.3!! It makes me think of roller-skating parties too! I also loved 93.9 continuous Christmas music. Luckily there is a station called warm 106.9 here in Seattle that plays continuous Christmas music from now until Christmas too! That makes me happy! Oh, and I used to listed to 720 AM all the time in high school.
